The Meads
Our green play space, behind the school.
Pupils-only during the school day; sports and after-school clubs beyond. Fenced and overlooked by grand trees. Next to a beautiful set of allotments — and a community park where the fierce after-school kick-abouts happen.
The field
A place to run. A place to roll around in.
The Meads is our green play space — exclusively available for our pupils during school hours, and open to sports and after-school clubs beyond.
Most local primary schools haven't got space for a field this size, and many that did have lost it. The Meads gives every class at Swiss Gardens room to actually move — through PE lessons, through the year's set-piece events, and through the small daily games that fill a school year.
Fenced off to keep children safe through the day, and overlooked by grand trees. Next to a beautiful set of allotments, and adjacent to a community park with lots of play equipment — where the fierce after-school kick-abouts happen, and where families end up at the end of the day.
Year on The Meads
How the school uses it.
From the first PE lesson of the autumn term to the last circle of the year, the field is where the school year ends up.
- Weekly PE for every year group — wet weather aside
- After-school sports and clubs through the term
- Sports Day — KS1 and KS2 together on a Wednesday in June
- The Summer Fair on a June Saturday
- Lunch-break running-around time, every day
- The Year 6 Leavers Assembly at the end of the year, weather permitting
Come and see the place.
The best way to understand the school is to be in it. Open mornings include a walk past The Meads; you can also book a one-to-one tour.
