What & how they learn
An ambitious curriculum, delivered with heart and rigour.
Reading at the heart of everything. High-quality texts at the centre of every topic. Hands-on, discovery-rich learning that prepares every child for what comes next.
How we think about teaching
Intent · Implementation · Impact.
A national-curriculum framework designed for what we want every Swiss Gardens child to know, understand and be by the time they leave us.
Intent
What we set out to do
An ambitious curriculum that gives all pupils — including those with SEND — the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed. Builds carefully from EYFS upwards, with strong foundations in reading and mathematics so each year extends the last.
Implementation
How we teach it
Topics start from high-quality texts. Small steps in early reading and mathematics, identified carefully so teaching is precise. Hands-on experiences, visitors, trips, specialist materials. Wide cultural offer beyond core subjects — visiting artists, the school council.
Impact
What it achieves
Pupils achieve well — particularly in early reading and mathematics. Children leave us as keen, enthusiastic learners who engage readily and want to show what they know. “Pupils are keen and enthusiastic learners.” — Ofsted, May 2023.
